Rubber band powered glider workshop

The project focus is to create an understanding about the basic aerodynamics, simple machines, energy, its types and its conversion from one form to another form. The activity relates how rubber band’s elastic energy is converted into mechanical energy to drive a simple propelling mechanism and basic aerodynamic structure to make a glider by using paper, balsa wood, sticking glue and a propeller.

  • The activity addresses the fundamentals of energy and its conversion in different forms.
  • Describes the basics of aircraft structure and simple mechanics to make a glider.
  • Understanding about the combination of simple machines and energy to perform a specific task.
